Guest What!

It was September, Friday the 13th and all week I had been feeling a little off, nothing significant, just a little nauseous and a little tired. A and I had been trying for a while with no luck and I thought not feeling well was all in my head. Then, the printer jammed at work, and I started to cry. Over a printer! It was just a paper jam, but I just couldn't control my emotions. That was my "ok, something is different this time" moment. I thought back to the week and thought of some other examples that seemed a little off. For example, I was so tired one night that I had to sit down while waiting for the elevator, plus I had a meatloaf sandwich for breakfast one day. All I wanted was meat, all the time. So after work, A and I went home and I decided to do a test.

We tip-toed carefully back into the bathroom after the long 3 minutes were up. It was funny as we both kind of leaned in with our heads first just to catch a glimpse. We both saw "pregnant," looked at each other in disbelief and then took one more step for a closer look.  Then just to be safe, we took 2 more tests which confirmed that yes I am pregnant!

I was surprisingly calm (after crying for a just a minute or two) while A was a little more in shock, but we both could not be more excited and happy about this news!!! A baby! The start of our little family!

The next day was all business, with trying with figure out doctors appointments and blood tests and navigating the Italian health system. After a couple months of appointments, ultrasounds and blood tests, our first impression has been very good so far and we haven't had to pay anything out of pocket being on the national health system. I've also heard great things about the local hospital for delivering, which is comforting as well.
^^Baby Senso 12 week ultrasound, looking healthy and just 5 centimeters. Arms and legs were moving like crazy!

I'll try to keep up with the chalkboard and do updates at least every two weeks on the bump and how I'm feeling. 12 week post should be coming up shortly!
